One of the best ways to ensure a successful move is to purge your home while you pack! Anything that you don’t use or don’t need anymore can easily be dropped off at a donation center like Goodwill Industries. You’ll save time and money by having less to pack! There are thrift stores throughout Columbia, Lexington, and the Midlands, many of which support great causes!
2. Ahead of the Game
One of the best pieces of advice we can offer is to pack in advance! Waiting until the last minute to pack up your home not only makes moving more stressful, but can also make unpacking at your new place harder if your items aren’t organized properly. Gamecock Moving also offers packing services if you’d rather spend that time cooling off with a drink in The Vista!
3. Keep it Organized
Organization can make a huge difference during your move. We suggest making a plan for how you will organize your boxes. Color coding is a great way to accomplish this (use extra garnet for Gamecock points!) That way each box goes to its designated space in your new home and you can unpack room by room!
4. The Essentials
Always make sure you pack an overnight back of essentials for that first night in your new home. Moving day can be tiring and the last thing you want to be doing late at night is looking for your toothbrush!
5. Unpack & Unwind
Now that you’ve purged, organized, and labeled, it’s time to start setting up your new home! We recommend unpacking one room at a time. It can help you stay focused and feel less overwhelmed as you enjoy your new place.
